Hummus for All!

~When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste.~

One appetizer that Carnivore and I both agree on is pita and hummus. We are picky in our flavors though, so often times we stick to store bought Roasted Red Pepper. However, I blended a few recipes together to create this concoction, and it is delicious! (and so easy to make--start to finish is about 5 minutes)

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup tepid water
4 garlic cloves
2 cups canned chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
2 tablespoons water or liquid from the chickpeas
8 dashes hot sauce
6-8 pieces roasted red pepper

Directions:

Place sesame seeds in a blender or food processor and grind until smooth. Add sesame oil and 1/4 tsp salt. Process until combined. With the motor running, add the 1/4 cup tepid water in a very slow, steady stream and blend until smooth.

While running the food processor, drop the garlic down the feed tube; process until it's minced. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process until the hummus is coarsely pureed. Taste, for seasoning, and serve chilled or at room temperature.
